What To Expect

Pasajul Victoriei
This is a unique spot in Bucharest covered in umbrellas, for sure one of the places you would like to remember about! The passage it's named also: Pasajul Macca-Villacrosse, formed by two narrow streets making up a two-tined, fork-like shape were covered with a beautifully crafted glass roof, allowing the entry of natural light while providing shelter from the rain. The ground floor was meant for shops, while the rooms on the first floor were for rent. One branch of the passage was called Vilacrosse, while the other one was called Macca, after Mihalache Macca, the builder’s brother-in-law. The two-tined end opens onto Calea Victoriei, one of Bucharest’s main avenues; the other end opens toward the National Bank in the historic Lipscani district.

A beautiful "patio" standing on its stone columns, colored flowers and the birds songs are all part of the mystic Stavropoleos Monastery. This is one of the most historically charged places in Bucharest, a monument that has resisted over time both the weather of nature and the less favorable epochs, currently passing as one of the most valuable places of the Brâncovenesc architectural style.

Made according to the plans of the architect Paul Gottereau, with specific elements from the French architecture of the late nineteenth century, the CEC Palace was finished in 1900. Many times, the images of it create confusion on the Internet, with many people who do not know the location believing that it is a building in Paris. Ateneul Roman
The Romanian Athenaeum, the most beautiful building in Bucharest was built between 1886 and 1889, at the initiative of an homonymous society, which launched a donation campaign with a famous slogan: "Give 1 leu for the Athenaeum!". The money was raised in a few years and the construction became one of the reasons why Bucharest received the over-name of Little Paris. It was not the only building of its kind in the city at that time designed by a French architect, or inspired by Parisian architecture. Also on Calea Victoriei, just a few years before, the same Albert Galleron had built the splendid building of the National Bank of Romania, as the headquarters of a private bank, which declared bankruptcy on the day of receiving the bill for the sumptuous building.
