What To Expect

Curtea de Arges Monastery
Located at the end of a boulevard with hundred of years old linden trees, Curtea de Arges Monastery is the most important pilgrimage and prayer place in the county of Arges, with the “Assumption of the Virgin” as its dedication day.

Founded in the time of voivode Neagoe Basarab, between 1512 and 1517, the monastery is a part of the most famous Romanian legend, “The legend of master Manole”. Known also as the Episcopal Church, because it was an Episcopal See between 1739 and 1748, the house of worship is 18 meters length, 10 meters wide and 25 meters high. As a curiosity, the naos and the pronaos are not separated by a door, but by the frame of a door, placed between two columns.

Le Lac Balea
Balea Lake is one of the most visited lakes in Romania. What is it so special about it? Well, first of all, the road to Balea lake and also the landscape you can admire on that spot are amazing. The lake is also a reservation and near it, in winter, you can find the first ice hotel built in Eastern Europe. Like many of Romania’s iconic places, Balea Lake is surrounded by an eerie legend. Moreover, in march 2014, Van Damme was here, at the lake, to film a beer commercial. He was really impressed with the place.

Transfagarasan Highway
This is the best road in the world – said Jeremy Clarkson in a Top Gear episode while comparing it to a race track. Still, Transfagarasan offers so much more besides the amazing driving experience, connecting the south of Romania with Transylvania, going straight across the massive Fagaras Mountains through five tunnels and winding roads that needed 6,500 tons of dynamite to be built.
